The 2024 BMW 3 Series lineup has four trims and three options for powertrains. The entry-level 2.0L V4 engine has 295 lb-ft of torque and 255 horsepower. The 3.0L turbocharged engine is more powerful, with 369 lb-ft of torque and 382 horsepower. The hybrid engine is right in the middle of the two, offering 310 lb-ft of torque capacity and 288 horsepower. All models have an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Lexus IS models can come with a six-speed automatic transmission, but the flagship IS 500 model has a direct-shift eight-speed automatic transmission and 472 horsepower. In contrast, the base model has 260 horsepower, while the mid-tier trim has 311 horsepower.

Technology and Safety

The BMW Series 3 has a 12.3-inch gauge display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Standard safety features include parking assistance and automatic emergency braking. There are also optional features, like lane departure warning, lane-keeping, lane-centring, and adaptive cruise controls.

There’s a 10.3-inch touchscreen display for Lexus IS mid-tier and flagship models, as well as mobile compatibility. In contrast, the base model has an 8-inch touchscreen display. All models in this lineup have a blindspot monitor and the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, which includes a list of driving assists such as automatic high beam, full-speed range dynamic cruise control, lane departure warning, lane tracing, and a pre-collision system.
